This seems like the ideal time to take a walk — for charity that is. As participants in Phoenix’s AIDS Walk & 5K Run are walking and racing toward a cure our October issue will just be hitting the racks on October 3. San Diego will just be coming off its 2010 AIDS Walk & Run and Palm Springs will be gearing up for its 2010 AIDS Walk & 5K Run, scheduled for October 23.
Walking for a cure isn’t anything new; think March of Dimes or Susan G. Komen, both of which are extremely worthwhile causes. But walking for a cure for AIDS is different — it’s walking for our community.

Dare Dave
Future issues of Compete will feature the new column “Dare Dave.” Dave is David Riach, cofounder of Compete. Readers, Compete Radio listeners, and Compete staffers will “Dare Dave” to complete sports-oriented challenges. The first challenge? Complete the Palm Springs AIDS Walk & 5K Run. We’ll cover David’s efforts in the new column in our November issue.
