Visit Your Friendly Neighborhood Gay Sports Bar
Just a few years back, meeting your teammates in the locker room meant just that – meeting to prepare for a game or match. Today, thanks in part to the recognition of gay people like us who enjoy sports, that meeting in the locker room could also mean meeting at Gym Bar’s lower level Locker Room in New York City.
The gay sports bar has changed everything. No longer do John and Tom have to head out to a traditional sports bar to cheer for their favorite team. They can paint their faces and hold hands while screaming at the television with other gay sports fans.
And there are new gay sports bars popping up everywhere. In fact, you’ll notice gays sports bars in places you would have never thought to look. Lojax Seaside is the newest gay sports bar, and guess where it is? Hawaii! That’s right, the gay sports bar craze has even moved off the mainland and onto the Hawaiian Islands.
We think it’s a big step forward. In fact you will find gay sports bars in many cities — Woofs in Atlanta, Crew in Chicago, Woody’s in Dallas, Sidelines in the Ft. Lauderdale area And Boxers in NYC, among many others. But Gym Bar has taken it to another level. It is the first gay sports bar to go “bi.” Well, bi-coastal that is, with locations in the Big Apple and now Los Angeles. On many nights you’ll catch our friend and editor, Buddy Early, cheering for his favorite team right here in Phoenix at Arizona’s only gay sports bar — Roscoes on 7th.
We find the recent trend of new gay sports bar openings to be a big step forward for the gay community and for sports. In fact, it feels good to say, it’s a step forward for the gay sports community. So until John and Tom can hold hands at traditional sports bars, more bars like Lojax Seaside are welcome in our community.
