There’s Never Too Much of a Good Thing

What a great issue this month's Compete is! This is one of the two issues of Compete this year that will be on stands for two months – but I believe it is full of enough great features, interviews and columns to keep you satisfied until October. Two of my favorite 80s icons were interviewed for this issue. As a teenager my eyes were glued to my television screen in 1984 and 1988, as Greg Louganis put a stamp on his legacy as one of America’s greatest Olympians. Former Champion Dives Back in the Water for Equality Swim

Thumbnail for Greg Louganis interviewGrowing up in the 1970s and training to be a world-class diver, Greg Louganis didn’t do a lot of long distance swimming. And when he was making his way atop every medal stand at the Olympics of the 80s his time in the pool was mostly swimming to the edge after a dive. That’s why swimming 1.7 miles along the coast of Malibu on Sept. 25 has got the former champion a bit uneasy.
